Students may be eligible to transfer up 135 credits*. At least 45 credits must be completed at Walden. Transcripts and diploma information will be evaluated to determine the extent of credit awarded.
Nurses admitted to the program who:
received their Associates in Nursing from an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited program, or a Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or Department of Education (DOE) accredited institution;
completed a program that included at least one Anatomy & Physiology course; and
have an active, unencumbered RN license
may be awarded up to 125 quarter credits* (80 cr. for prior nursing credit/elective courses and 45 cr. for general education courses) via block transfer.
Block transfer includes automatic completion of all general education requirements and elective credits (except statistics). Students who meet the above listed requirements only need to complete the required RN to BSN coursework and the required statistics course. Students who took previously took a collegiate level statistics course may also be able to receive transfer of credit for their statistics course after the course is evaluated by Walden’s Office of Admissions.
Nurses admitted to the program who achieved their nursing license through a diploma program may be awarded up to 50 credits of general education and up to 80 credits of prior nursing credit/electives.
*Please note: Students who reside in Virginia may be eligible to transfer up to 125 credits; at least 55 credits must be completed at Walden.
