M.S. Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Dr. Mariotti began his career as a Counselor in Italy, working for underserved populations such as drug addicts. This experience motivates him to develop prevention programs, especially for at-risk adolescents. He was the Clinical Coordinator for a Center for at-risk adolescents in Italy for over ten years. He is a licensed counselor and supervisor in Italy and a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Connecticut.
Dr. Mariotti sees counseling as a social justice action and believes in the importance of advocating for "our" clients and that an authentic change can only happen through building a healing network/community.
His passion for helping and supporting young generations led him to earn a doctorate in counseling and supervision in the US. His doctoral studies in counseling allowed him to research the Counselor profession's identity in Italy while actively contributing to the counselor certification process in Italy. Dr. Mariotti transitioned into counseling education in the US while he was the Director of a School for professional counselors in Italy.
As an Assistant Professor, he taught for four years at Western Connecticut State University in the Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling Program and one year at the University of New Haven in Connecticut's Clinical Mental Health Program. He is excited about starting this new journey and continuing to learn and work with the faculty, staff, and students at Walden U.
