Dr. Janice Brown Wharwood is an experienced social work educator who currently serves as a contributing undergraduate faculty member of social work at Walden University. She holds a master's and a Ph.D. in social work from Barry University. Since 2015, she has served as an adjunct and an assistant professor at several diverse and prominent universities in the South Florida community. She has served as a mentor and professor to undergraduate and graduate level students.

She is affiliated with various professional membership organizations, such as the National Association of Social Work (NASW), the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and the Society for Social Work Research (SSWR). She serves as an ARCADA committee member of the Special Commission on Macro Social Work. In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Wharwood's dedication to public service has earned her recognition. She is also a Social Work Student Association (SSWA) faculty advisor to one of the most prominent long-standing HBCUs in South Florida.

Dr. Wharwood has exhibited a strong dedication to the fundamental principles of social work in her professional endeavors. In her leisure time, she takes pleasure in the company of her twin grandsons, Sean Jr. and Jalen, who are six years old.
