Shana L. Maier, B.S., Criminal Justice, Saint Joseph’s University; M.S., Criminal Justice, Saint Joseph’s University; Ph.D., Sociology, University of Delaware. Dr. Maier has been a professor since 2004. At Walden University, Maier is employed as a Contributing Faculty Criminal Justice (Remote).

Her research interests include violence against women, the treatment of rape victims by the criminal justice system, the transformation of rape crisis centers, and the experiences and struggles of rape victim advocates and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. Dr. Maier is the author of articles appearing in Violence Against Women, Women & Criminal Justice, Journal of Ethnicity in Criminal Justice, and Feminist Criminology, and the coauthor of articles appearing in Deviant Behavior, International Review of Victimology, and Women’s Health and Urban Life. Maier is a member of the American Society of Criminology.
